Been a busy few weeks...:) I LOVE Idaho!

I love Idaho...:) Shhhhh, don't tell anyone how awesome it is here...:) Just kidding, kinda! Now that I work for the USDA Forest Service, I need to promote responsible use of the amazing beauty and infinite recreational opportunities here! Be safe and enjoy what we have here! I totally agree that we need to do whatever we can to preserve this for future generations!

Finished a bridge with my good friend! 24ft long X 60in. wide. Tough mother...:) I'll try to get copies of the pictures.

Last season, I worked as the Smokejumper Staff Assistant for the BLM at the NIFC.

This season, I started work at the USDA Forest Service, Boise, ID Headquarters. So much information and happenings to keep track of.

Monday, 05/19/2014:
Get to know you and basics of my job training all day, then a WCT (Work Capacity Test) Only had to do the light so far, 1 mile in under 16min. I got 14min...:)

I'll be doing a lot of special project assistance, and gophering...:)

Wednesday, 05/21/2014:
Delivered new furniture to the Atlanta, ID Ranger station. Their grading the roads and getting the cabin and ranger station ready for this season. Last year, the area suffered some severe wildfire damage.

Last season was intense, and it's looking like this season could be the same or worse!

Be sure to check the USDA websites for current road closures and recreational impact before heading out.

Did some PA (public affairs) for the Becker Integrated Resource Project.

Thursday, 05/22/2014:
Shot some video of 2014 Wildfire training in Idaho City. Channel 7 was there as well.

My video is for the USDA Forest Service: Should go into training footage. I'm not sure if I'll be able to show you this stuff until it's packaged and approved for public consumption. Super cool (I mean hot) video! I was up and close to the Terra Torch and fire line. "Nothing like the smell of Napalm in the morning." Ok, not exactly napalm, but a strong diesel smell.

Completed my RT-130 Annual Fire Safety Refresher at CWI! More to follow...:)

I have to get my bright yellow Nomex firefighter shirt dirty(Super NOOB)! Just a little hazing from the veterans...:)

My USDA Forest Service uniform is awesome! I'll get some photos when I suit up again...:)

Continue to work on MOA Eot*'s, trying to keep up with them while working!

I'm being presented with a plethora of learning opportunities and really am enjoying life! Hopefully, financial security will come with that...:)

Finishing up building a bridge for an old buddy of mine. Like a real bridge! 24ftX60in heavy duty, badass bridge! This thing could hold a small car...:)

Landscaping season...manscaping maybe in order...:)

The weather is thinking of getting better...NOT! Well, maybe...:) I've been helping a friend tear down an old house and build some things like a bridge and deck.

We've just started landscaping our yard and there is a ton of stuff to do. I'm just waiting until I can open all the doors and windows and clean the house.

I'll be working on animation most of the day today. I figured out how to make Dude Sr.'s tie-dye work better...:) You'll be able to see it in the next MOA Eot* animated video.

There is only 14 hours left on the MOA Eot* fundraiser! Any support is greatly appreciated! I'll have to scale down to just the EotW/M/Y when I start working for the USDA Forest Service in May. When we can just focus on MOA and Psychedelic Aire, I will be able to crank out the Daily Eot's again.

Freaky Time...:)

Time is doing that shifting thing again??? It might have something to do with animating? I'm working at 30 frames per second (fps), and setting keyframes for correct timing can be challenging! I have a ton of respect for all the animators that came before and improved the art.

It's amazing to think of the talent, time and patience these artist have! I'll keep trying and hopefully get the knack of it...:)

Animation used to be and sometimes still is completely hand drawn!!! Frame by frame!

I'm trying to learn and integrate Poser with Anime Studio, but have to be really cautious not to put in too much detail. My computer can barely handle what I'm asking of it now...:(

Poser allows for 3D character creation. Right now, I need to get the 8 major poses of my Dude Sr. character, and 3D can make that a lot easier if my computer can process it!

One big challenge I have now it trying to get the Tie-dye t-shirt to look and work right. It's a combination of lots of vector shapes, and gets out of whack when I move my character too much. I'll try some other shirt options, but really love that Tie-dye!

I'm still trying to learn AnimeStudio, but the ability to create my characters in 3D and bring them into 2D is a tempting challenge!

Moments of Awareness Energy of the Day, Week, Month animations are caught up, but now I need to improve and adjust some things...:) (that's an ongoing, never-ending process.)

Updated Psychedelic Aire a bit, and will build an animation page that consolidated animation related stuff. (I need more content for that one, but will do what I can.)

The process continues

I've been trying to keep up! Creating a daily, weekly and monthly Moments of Awareness Tarot & Astrology animation has many challenges...:)

I use AnimeStudio Pro 9.5 for the animated Dude Sr. SmithMicro just updated it to 10.0, but I'll have to wait on upgrading just yet...:(

The basics:

Peace Jaway does the Energy reading for the day, week and month.

I take those readings and create the voice-over in Adobe Audition or SONAR X1 Essential. Do some sound sweetening...:)

(Lately, I use Adobe Audition for the voice-overs, and SONAR X1 is best for music and soundtrack creation.)

I take the voice-over audio and bring it into Papagayo. This allows me to sync the Eot* text with the voice-over audio. Once the audio and text are synced, Papagayo will output a data file that sets the keyframes for the lip-sync in AnimeStudio. ?????

(this process makes the animated Dude's mouth use the proper phonemes for the Eot* text and audio....makes him talk.)

Once the animated portion is set-up, I render the animation into a QuickTime file so I can import it into Adobe Premiere Pro for compositing.

In Adobe Premiere, I combine all the different media components into the final Eot* video and render for YouTube.

I've run into numerous challenges along the way, and many more to follow. "Trouble ahead, trouble behind, and you know that notion just crossed my mind, Grateful Dead, I will survive." (highschool yearbook quote by me.)

As other much wiser philosophers have mentioned, these challenges are learning experiences along the road of dust in the wind throughout time, blah, blah, blah.....it is, we are, I am, BE...:)

The entire process from start to finish is currently 8-12 hours per Eot* video! 

I have been trying to help out another "Old veteran buddy" deconstruct an old house so he can recycle/reuse the amazing old growth, rough-cut and absolutely beautiful lumber. Hard physical labor (hurts so good.) He'll create some amazing woodwork from what we salvage.

The Spring weather is allowing me some indoor time to keep creating, so hopefully I can get caught up on the Eot* animations and get some more fun stuff created.

My computer can't handle a lot of what I'm trying to accomplish! I'm trying to reduce file size and settings to no avail...:(

I'll keep trying different options until I can upgrade.

For now, I have to try less complex artwork and scenes.

I wish Centurylink would let us at least get higher speed internet! It's not available where we live, yet.

Crowdfunding novice...:)

I totally jumped in before doing the research! Oops! In an effort to further my creative endeavors, I started an Indiegogo campaign. Psychedelic Animations. -->

I've just started reading the how to information, so this will be a bit rough for now. Basically, I'm attempting to crowdfund the ability to do what I love and hopefully create music and animation that people will enjoy! I've been working relatively non-stop on my first animated character Dude Sr. (yes, me in animated form). The process is very challenging! Part, learning the software. Part, realizing the years of life experience into animated form. Part, misc. computer/software/brain crashes.
I'm using AnimeStudio Pro 9.5 and Adobe After Effects CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS5, and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, occasionally Adobe Illustrator CS5 and of coarse Adobe Dreamweaver CS4.
I know, old but able to run on my 32bit DELL.

I keep forgetting to eat...:( Maruchan Ramen is in the nuke-box now...:) Still love the stuff! We like to add a garlic clove for flavor and  immunity boosting. I'm trying to hold a knife like a chef (thank you Peace and Top Chef...:) So far no lost digits!

We have the Olympics, Fear Factor and Outer Limits on in the background! Wow! Amazing athletes and crazy people/stories. I thought I was some kind of freestyle skier back in the 80's when my friends and I would Dead Head to Colorado and ski Keystone and A-Basin...NOT...:) I remember when snowboarding was banned from most ski resorts a Long, Long Time ago....We were lucky to pull (accidentally) do a flip off a cliff.

Reworking Tie-dye...:)

I'm working on my AnimeStudio Pro Dude Sr. character, and screwed up on my tie-dye...:(

This particular tie-dye has tons of vector layers and I accidentally modified the main layer and distorted it bad. Now I'm fixing that and should be able to animate him...I hope...:) Sun is shining! Yay...:) Have an awesome day!

CAD software.

I've always dreamt of owning/using AutoCAD, but have not pursued an Architectural degree, and at a USD cost of $4,195 it is way out of my realm at this time. I'm downloading a trial version of AutoCAD 2014 for fun. There is a popular program on the market used for the WikiHouse stuff called SketchUp with a cost of USD $590 that makes it attractive. I'll look into both options.
Just an F.Y.I. When my highschool career counselor asked what I wanted to do for a living, I narrowed it down from an infinite number of things to three: Pilot, Architect and Commercial Artist. I really want to do all three+. I started college in 1988 in Business Aviation/Pro Pilot program while taking tons of art/computer classes. I ran out of money before finishing flight school, and have tried on numerous occasions to finish without success. I will not stop trying to do all three...:) Finished my degree in 2011, and am working on Animation/Music as I continue doing the things I love. Some day I'll make a living doing those things. Had to just do it. Keep learning and creating! I sense Kickstarter in my future...:)

Create and print a home design with WikiHouse then cover it with Concrete Canvas. Voila! I'm sure all the other necessary infrastructure stuff can be implemented utilizing numerous Earth friendly techniques and materials. Hemp based products can cover most of the other home requirements...:) It's the dream, that is getting closer to manifestation! Have an awesome day!

Been hard at it most of the week...:)

I've been working hard to finish my Dude Sr. character in AnimeStudio Pro 9.5. I had a way too complex bone/animation rig, and kept crashing my old computer. Tried tech support, but they can't just give me a new computer...:) Took a day to play Battlefield 4 Xbox 360 because my system crashed after a Windows update...:( Blue screen crash. Not cool Microsoft!

I'm working on my Dude Sr. character more, and watching some tutorials about facial shading/highlighting from Incredible Tutorials. These guys do a great job with tutorials!

More snow (2-3") and more on the way (4-9"). So, I'll stay indoors and work before relocating it...:)

I'm awake when the sun is up, sort of...:) Still working on animation (had lots of computer crashes and had to try some new techniques). Moving along, well my character is...:) It was working great, until I tried to do too much and had too many programs running...:( Had to hard-boot). Well, back at it. Have an awesome day!

I got tagged in a conversation with Peace and the Stovers of Owl creek Gazette about solar energy, and showed a new site Sun Electronics and revisited one of my favorites RealGoods. Both have been around a while and have lots of information for Off-grid renewable living.

I was up until 9:30am last night (yes, all night) working on my animated Dude Sr. (Anime Studio Pro 9.5) and made some real progress...:) Kind of on a weird schedule lately. Once caught up on the daily events and happenings, I'll be back at it. I hope to start a render tonight if I can make it all work...:)

Up all night learning and researching.

I was up all night learning some great Anime Studio techniques/tutorials from Incredible Tutorials and Content Paradise. Awesome! I was also trying to understand more music theory and specifically how to play piano notes on the guitar. This was more for visuals of the finger positions on the guitar. I'll be working on switch layers for one of my characters. Switch Layers are image/vector layers created for making quick transitions of poses in graphic software.  This is just one way animators can make different phonemes (mouth poses) to make it appear an animated character is speaking specific words/sounds.

I'm trying to figure out how to make my character play the actual notes on a guitar. Next step after creating guitar fingering poses, is to make the poses transition in realtime to a MIDI/audio track...:) I've watched some really cool animations by Animusic that do this with custom software, but haven't figured out how to make this work in Anime Studio or After Effects, yet.

It's cold outside so I'll stay indoors and keep working on animation, music and the MOA Tarot deck. Mostly the animation, and once I start rendering, the Tarot deck some more.

Found some cool stuff for my music software.

I've been using Cakewalk Sonar X1 for audio production, and like most of my software and equipment, I'm just finding out how to use it...:) I tried Amplitube a long time ago, and loved it but it timed out. I just found out I could unlock it today plus I got a couple other freebies from IK Multimedia. Musicians First. Cool new toys to create with! Yay! Going to go split some firewood then back to animating the Dude with AnimeStudio and trying to integrate that with Adobe After Effects. I need more computing power and hard drive space bad! Any willing contributors??? Dreaming of an Alienware supercomputer and a few LaCie 4big Quadra 12TB RAID hard drives would do...:) We've had fairly good luck with the LaCie's so far. We did set one up wrong and lost 3 years of data, so some of the replacement LaCie 4big 9000264 4TB Spare Drive Bare Drives would be nice also. If configured correctly, they have been work horses. It's been snowing for a while as Peace has said. I'm waiting for a little more before moving it...:) Looks like a good day for working on the MOA Tarot Deck and other creative stuff. I cut some more firewood and worked on The Magician card for the Moments of Awareness Tarot Deck. Back to work on the Tarot card, then maybe some animation with AnimeStudio Pro. I watched a cool tutorial on animating fractals on Adobe AfterEffects I'd like to try for more Psychedelic Aire music videos. So much to create. Have an awesome day!

Working on Animation and a Tarot Deck
